The true meaning of marriage

Many people think that baptism is the primordial (first) sacrament. However, this is not true. Baptism is the first sacrament received, but matrimony is the first sacrament. We know this for two reasons. Firstly, because it was the first sacrament given to Adam and Eve in the Bible and secondly, because the human family perfectly mirrors the Holy Trinity in the sacrament of marriage.

Marriage is the building block of family and family is the building block of society.

We can look at it this way...

 Father                                                                        Mommy
                              \ /          --> Holy Spirit                                               \ /              --->  Baby
 Son                                                                            Daddy

The Father completely loves the Son and the Son also completely loves the father. They are one in being that they completely love each other. The Father completely pours Himself (love) into the Son and the Son completely pours his (love) into the Father. The Holy Spirit is the love between the Father and the Son and a being within itself. They are all three God.

In this way the human family mirrors God. The husband will completely give himself to his wife and the wife will completely give herself to her husband. The love between the husband and the wife is a  baby.  We can see, the husband and the wife are one in marriage and their baby is also apart of them (DNA). So, the human family is also one.

Therefore, we can come to the conclusion that because Satan can't beat God, he will try to destroy the closest thing to God and  because the human family completely mirrors God, he will attack it instead. This is why divorce is so sad. It destroys not only the relationship between the husband and wife, but is also has an adverse, harmful effect on the children.

Our Gracie will make a fine Nun, don't you think Pablo? But she still has another year of high school to finish.

When she leaves us I will mail my tears to her in a paper envelope.
