Thanks for helping me with my coolness factor. I have teenagers so I'm not very cool I'm told but I'm okay with that.
My daugter Ana tells me that emo is for emotionally disturbed goths and not your run of the mill goths.
Urban dictionary ;goth- Sans history lesson, goths fall into two categories: 1. People, usually quiet misfits, who are often quite intelligent and creative. They tend to focus on the darker side of life, particularly human nature. 2. more common High school/college students who, by dressing in black and listening to heavy metal, attempt to make sure everyone around them is aware of how cool and individualistic they are. That their individualism centers on dressing, thinking, and acting like everyone else in the clique doesn't seem to bother them. Can often be found writing bad psuedo-suicidal poetry in wirebound notebooks. They usually drop the facade as soon as they realize that no one around them, including their parents, is shocked any more. 1. "Hey, see the goth over there? Go ask to see her artwork. It's really cool." 2. "Ohmigod, did you, like, read the new Anne Rice book? I am, like, so glad I'm a goth!"
(Continues)Lifestyle-wise, there doesn't appear to be a lifestyle that all gothics follow, though some seem to share similar characteristics, which can include an interest in occultist themes, poetry, religion, introspection, gothic literature (which was written some time during the Victorian Era), folk...
Yeah, my 18 year old tells me that goth and emo are *not quite* the same thing--and leaves it at that. I think she figures the subtle differences are over my head--and she's probably right!

"Country Goth"? LOL!
I'll see if I can find more examples of this unexpected hybrid!
Goth is a state of mind Julie.

I forgot to say that I like the nod to Anne of Green Gables. =)

And I think all the cool kids say "Emo" now, instead of "Goth." =P
Just helping you bump up your coolness factor, Belinda!

Yep, that sums up my teenager years.
