Fiddling while Rome burns; in Connecticut.

Regular folks would get pink slips.

Hey Mom,
I got your phone message today, but I didn't want to call you because it is 11 pm in Kansas, and I didn't want to wake you. I'm good, and the fires are burning, but luckily, not here. They are north of the city in the mountains. The other day, my friend and I saw them and it looked like a nuke cloud..it was really scary. At night it looks like the eye of Sauron and mount doom in Mordor looking down over the city, but the fires are far enough away to not be a problem for my neighborhood. The Smoke, however, has been pretty choking, and it has settled over the city that doesn't believe in air conditioning in the 100 degree heat, so the fans just cycle smoke and soot through your house. I heard that living in LA, with all the smog causes the same amount of lung damage in one year as a person that smokes one pack a week. Ugh! Anyway, I hope everyone there is good..I wrote on your blog, because I wasn't sure if you get the emails that are sent to dad..
love,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth !
I am no longer on Facebook or Twitter- my favorite, because I was spending too much time on the computer. I never read Dads e-mail or facebook- it would bore me to tears. Dad's just not that exciting. hahaha

Since your siblings have gone back to school I have been in a work frenzy. I thought that I would get to chillax at least a little, but no. I am painting for your grandmother and when that job is finished I will help Dad get wood for the winter. Then I plan on painting this entire home inside and out and purging myself of things that are not necessary. Then I will see what God has in store for me.

If you need anything let us know. I'm glad that your doing okay. My blog administrator - your Dad wants me to post something for you and your sisters. He said, "I want my daughters to hear this song." So check back. Dad loves you and so do I and I will talk to you later and please, please pray for us.
