I just watched this again the other day - I love the film - felt bad she left the convent however. Sadly her vocation was another casuality of the war. At Fatima Our Lady said War is punishment for sin - therefore it is a chastisement - and there are many casualties.

But she could never allow herself to be molded. The doctor reminded her of that many times.
