I've been tagged by Vincenzo to do a meme about food. So here goes.....

I have O.C.D. and  I'm very picky about what I eat. My  mother in law who happens to be one of the sweetest people on the planet once made fun of the way I eat with her girlfriend giggling and saying that I didn't  like it when my food touched other food on my plate and that I only eat one food at a time until it's finished. I didn't know I did those things and I've never seen her make fun of anybody else before, however I thought she was amusing.
* BTW. Potluck dinners drive me crazy because I don't know who made what and with what ingredients or if they washed their hands or if they let their cat sample it before I did- It's a mental quandary for me.

1) What food, even if you were dying of starvation on a deserted island, would you refuse to eat?

I'd gnaw on my left arm before I'd eat shrimp. (I'll never eat a caper either)

2) What is your favorite frozen dinner entree?

I like a cheap Totinos pizza on occasion but I wont eat anything with round pieces of meat on it which resemble dog food and the stuff I've cleaned  from the bunny cages. My brain tells me that this food is gross but my taste buds say, "Eh, it's not that bad," but I tend to agree with my daughter Elizabeth, who says's that eating is most often another chore, and something you have to do.

3) What is your favorite beverage?

I drink lots of water and  I carry this container with me where ever I go.  I won't leave the house without it and because it's in continual motion it rarely gets washed. (  I know, but remember they're my own cooties which I'm immune to - physically and mentally.)

At Christmas or Thanksgiving I'll probably drink a Sarsaparilla.

4) What condiment do you use the most?

I don't believe in condiments,  I'm Catholic.

5) If you were a vitamin/nutrient which one would you be and why?

I'd be a Riboflavin /niacin combo  because it's a pretty simple nutrient (brewers yeast) - used to enrich our foods, and it's found in everything  from rice and  breads to cereals. You don't want Pellagra.

6) If you were about to be executed for crimes against humanity what would your last meal consist of?

I would want to eat Mexican food with my activity director that had been created by an authentic Mexican person  who knows what they're doing. I would also request that they call me by my first name and tell me I'm special.

(In reality when my death is imminent,  I will abstain from food and pray really, really hard.)

Although I wasn't asked - My favorite dessert - Homemade blueberry pie with real ice cream. It's even better if I can eat it in the company of my daughter Grace who also loves this pie.

A guy I work with absolutely refuses to eat any of the goodies that folks bring in, for many of your same reasons...

He also does all the cooking at his house..because apparently one of his former wives tried to poison him (so he says..)

Well.. if you're a jerk... ya gotta eat and ya gotta sleep..

Although tit for tat..one of my former girlfriends caught her husband cheating...so she "arranged" to give him syphillis.. paybacks can be a b*tch....

Amen to the Mexican food :)

I'm glad to know I'm not the ony finicky person. My dad is a cattle rancher so we had our own beef processed; which means they packaged up basically the whole cow. Organ meats, aackk! Mom used to say, the starving kids in China would be thankful for that liver and onions. I would say, "Let's send it to them!" I was a little bit of a smart a**. I ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches.
You would like these plates I picked up at a flea market. They're vintage 1940's restaurant china, with little divisions so the veggies don't run together with the mashed potatoes, etc. They're pretty, too, with green stencilled flowers.
My favorite frozen entree is Lean Cuisine chicken carbonara.
I would starve to death as a pioneer because I won't eat game and wild stuff. My dad is probably right that I'd have a whole different attitude if I had ever gone hungry a day in my life!

That Mexican feast looks yummy, as does the blueberry pie. Our tastes are so similar, do you think our spouses would mind if you brought lunch over to my job site once in a while? :)

About OCD. Never knew I had it, or depression, or anger problems either until I SCREAMED at the psychologist, "I'M NOT ANGRY!!!" It has been an interesting 10 years since then, and now I can enjoy the freedom of not having to do everything in a particular way. Thank you Prozac.

And thanks to my wife too. Her fidelity & loving compassion quite literally saved my life back then. She surely would not mind if you brought my lunch, only set the table for three or more. :) Fortunately for us, she does not care for blueberry pie. Yay!

Take care & God bless! -Cliff

Yes to the Blueberry Pie!

Could you please post the recipe?

Lola, the pie crust is as follows....

2 -1/2 cups of flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1 -cup of real butter (2 sticks cut into pieces)
1/4 cup of ice water

Whirl it in the food processor and then roll it out. This makes enough dough for one double crust pie. After you fill the pie then seal it and slit the top.(as you can tell, mine wasn't sealed properly and I'm glad I put foil under the pie on a cookie sheet. It was a mess.

Blueberry filling
(It makes two large pies)

12 cups of blueberries (frozen)It is usually around 4 -1 lb bags.
2 cups of sugar
1- 1/2 cups of tapioca flour
5- T lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
and some recipes call for a dash of nutmeg.

Before the pie is done and not too brown, make an egg wash using one egg white and a tablespoon of water whisked together. When the pie is finished brush the egg wash on top of the crust and sprinkle the course sugar crystals on top and return it to the oven for a few more minutes.

My supplier.

I made a practice one before I served it to company and then the next one for our guests I tweaked.
